A Quiet Holiday Weekend

East Hampton Village police made two drunken-driving arrests over the holiday weekend.

On Monday, just after midnight, an officer saw a 2014 Land Rover cross the solid white line on Montauk Highway near Stephen Hand’s Path and then swerve twice over the center double yellow line. The officer pulled the car over near Georgica Road, and found that the driver, John J. Trousdale of Manhattan, 56, appeared intoxicated. He reportedly failed several field sobriety tests before being charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and the traffic infractions.

Mr. Trousdale was held overnight for a morning arraignment, He was released on his own recognizance and will appear in East Hampton Town Justice Court at a later date.

A 19-year-old Southampton man driving without a license was also arrested in East Hampton Village on a D.W.I. charge. Alejandro Aparicio-Cruz was stopped on Montauk Highway in the early morning hours of Saturday, police said, after running his 2016 Chevrolet Camaro onto the shoulder and crossing into the oncoming lane. He was pulled over on Toilsome Lane, near Wireless Road, at about 1:55 a.m. and arrested about 20 minutes later after failing sobriety tests. He allegedly told police he had been drinking.

Mr. Aparicio-Cruz was charged with misdemeanor D.W.I. and four violations: unlicensed operation, consumption of an alcoholic beverage, failure to keep right, and driving across hazardous markings.

In Sag Harbor Village, a Montauk man was charged with aggravated D.W.I. on Oct. 9, at about 2:35 a.m. Police said Sean F. Scally Jr., 37, was speeding as he headed southeast on Bay Street. His 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser was clocked at 40 m.p.h. in a 20 m.p.h. zone, they reported, before turning onto Eastville Avenue, where he failed to maintain his lane of travel or to signal a right turn onto Harrison Street. Pulled stopped the car on Harrison.

Officers said Mr. Scally performed poorly on field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was reported to be above .18, and he was charged with aggravated D.W.I., a misdemeanor, as well as unsafe lane change, improper turning, and speeding. He was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment later that morning in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court.
