A Mannix Mix at Markel
The 15th iteration of "Love and Passion: Decadence of Distortion," a group exhibition organized by Karyn Mannix, will pop up at Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in Bridgehampton on Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5. A reception will take place on Saturday from 5 to 8.
The show will include artwork by Erin Simmons, Cindy Press, Lianne Alcon, Joyce Kubat, Dell Cullum, Jackie Fuchs, Durell Godfrey, Gerry Giliberti, and Donna Corvi, among others.
At Harper’s Apartment
“What You Do When You Don’t Go Outside,” a solo show of paintings by Brad Phillips, is on view at Harper’s Apartment, the Manhattan outpost of Harper’s Books of East Hampton, through April 24.
Mr. Phillips is a Canadian artist and writer whose work engages themes of eroticism, depression, and mortality. His paintings, which range stylistically from photorealist to text-based and conceptual, often refer to his daily life. 
Harper’s Apartment is at 51 East 74 Street, Apt. 2X, and open Thursday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. or by appointment.
A Correction
Because of an editing error, an article last week, “The Story Behind a Portrait,” misstated one of the people who visited the Wallace Gallery in 1998. It was Bouvier Beale Jr. and his wife, not his aunt.
