The Montauk Library’s 2025-26 operating budget passed 93 to 16 on Tuesday.

The adopted budget is $2,348,900, most of which will be paid through taxes. The library anticipates that annual property taxes will increase by about $22 for a house with a market value of $1.14 million.

A little more than half of the budget, $1,279,500, covers salaries and expenses, with another big chunk, $577,000, allocated to debt services. Other expenses include materials and programming, library and building operations, professional services, and the operating reserve.

Also Tuesday, three candidates were re-elected to the library’s board: Marilyn Levine, Lisa Valcich, and Linda Norris. Ms. Norris has been a board member since last year. Ms. Levine, its current president, has served for 10 years. Ms. Valcich was previously elected in 2008 and served until 2015. She was elected to fill a one-year vacancy in 2024.
