Two weeks after opening registration for the new school year, Ruta27, an English-language program for adults, already has 60 students enrolled and expects more than 200 by the time evening classes start on Sept. 12 at East Hampton High School. To help meet the demand, the nonprofit is looking for volunteers interested in teaching English.

“It is not necessary to have previous teaching experience since Ruta27 has an established training plan that allows new volunteers to ease into the teaching program,” Andrew Visconti, a founder of Ruta27, wrote in an email. “Some knowledge of Spanish is helpful but not required.”

Prospective volunteers can contact Mr. Visconti at [email protected] or 917-822-9235.
