The Wainscott Citizens Advisory Committee on Saturday announced its annual business awards, which this year recognize Michael Del Piero Good Design and Wainscott Main Wines and Spirits for their aesthetic and community-minded accomplishments.

“The goal of the awards is to recognize members of the Wainscott business community who have made valuable contributions to the hamlet through their dedication to the visual landscape or to the goods and services they provide,” said Carolyn Logan Gluck, co-chairwoman of the Wainscott C.A.C. “Wainscott is the gateway to the Town of East Hampton.”

“Efforts made by various members of the business community have kept this stretch [of Montauk Highway] from having too much the feel of a strip mall and more the character of an attractive village with a sense of community.”

Michael Del Piero Good Design, which is headquartered in Chicago and expanded to Wainscott in 2018, renovated a red barn building into “a charming, white, gambrel-roofed barn with split-rail fence and tidy circular gravel driveway setting it off from the highway,” Ms. Gluck said. The ornamental landscaping is striking and the showroom is open year round, she said.

Ms. Gluck said Wainscott Main, which has been open since 2014, “fosters a sense of community in many ways.” The store’s environment is warm and friendly with quality local products and beneficial partnerships and events.

The Wainscott C.A.C. began honoring businesses in 2012. Past recipients have included La Capannina, Breadzilla, Serena and Lily, and the Seafood Shop.
