The girls basketball team was undefeated at home through Tuesday. The Bonackers have two wins so far this season, both of them at their home gym — their most recent a 52-48 win over Port Jefferson on Saturday, Jan. 10.
“They started to run the offense together. They started to play defense together, and they ran the press together,” their head coach, Krista Brooks, said. “Finally, five people on the court played together.”
The team lost two of its players to start 2026 and currently has a roster of just 10 girls who seemed more in sync in this win than in their first home victory.
“The people who came off the bench worked just as hard as the people who were out there, and then when they were on the bench, they watched the game, observed the game, and made changes when they went back in,” Brooks said.
Kaili Moore and Carli Stuckart led East Hampton’s scoring with 10 points each, with Stuckart sinking two 3-pointers.
Brooks says the team needs to make some adjustments if it wants to win more games this season, but for now, she’s keeping those adjustments close to the vest.
“They’re working in practice. They have the tools. They just need to apply those tools in games,” she said. “There are four things that we really need to improve, all stemming from today’s game.”
