Wins for East Hampton’s Track Teams

East Hampton’s boys and girls track teams each enjoyed wins over their Comsewogue opponents on April 22, the boys winning 82-33 and the girls winning 86-58.

The boys’ winners, Sean Knight, their coach, said, were Eduardo Calle in the triple jump, Jai Feaster in the long jump, Miles Menu in the high jump and in the 110-meter high hurdles, Nelvin Suchite in the 100, Liam Knight in the 400, Xavier Johnson in the 200, and the 4-by-100 relay team of Charlie Stern, Jackson Ronick, Feaster, and Suchite.

As for the girls, Yani Cuesta, their coach, said the following were first-place finishers in the Comsewogue meet: Lucia Mugavero in the triple jump, C.J. Echavarria in the 100 hurdles in a school-record time of 16.5 seconds, Bennett Greene in the 1,500-meter racewalk, Sara O’Brien in the 400 intermediate hurdles, Leah McCarron in the shot-put, and the 4-by-100 (Vicky Chen, Mugavero, Sam Ruano, and Echavarria) and 4-by-400 (Greylynn Guyer, Laura Martinez, Josie Mott, and O’Brien) relay teams.

At Saturday’s invitational meet at Westhampton Beach, Alex Kolhoff, in the open high jump, and Ali Munoz, in the open pole vault, were runners-up, McCarron was third in the open long jump, O’Brien was fourth in the open 400 hurdles, Greene was fifth in the open racewalk, Mugavero was fifth in the open triple jump, and Beth Daniels was fifth in the novice shot-put.

Participants in this year's Katy's Courage 5K in Sag Harbor on Saturday were undaunted by the wet weather. There were 223 finishers; Alyssa Bahel, #208 at right, topped the women's field.

Jonathan Lopez, 26, won Saturday’s Katy’s Courage 5K in Sag Harbor with a time of 18:16.10, topping a field of 223 finishers. Alyssa Bahel, 27, was the female winner — and seventh over all — in 19:51.74. Next up is the May Day 5K in East Hampton Village on Sunday.
