The East Hampton High School bowling team lost its first two matches of the winter season, 32-4 against Riverhead and 34-2 against Comsewogue, but the scores don’t reflect how quickly the team is coming together or the effort the bowlers are bringing to each match.
“The first match went great,” Jacen Sheades, a senior starter, said. “Our energy has definitely increased from last season to this season, and everyone’s excited to be there. The team has also seen an increase in points per game since last year, which is exciting.”
Coach Mike Vitulli agreed. “It’s been a great start to the season,” he said. “Both Marcus Wechsler and Darren Weaver picked up right where they left off.”
Weaver had a high game of 192 and a 556-point series against Riverhead. Wechsler had a high game of 180 and a 531-point series against Comsewogue.
Vitulli also has an eye on Isabel Briand and Julian Blandon, who are seniors. “I’m looking forward to seeing growth from Izzy and Julian,” he said.
