A 68-year-old East Hampton woman was arrested in Sag Harbor Village on Saturday after allegedly driving into two teenage traffic control officers who were attempting to give her a summons.

According to police, the woman was holding up traffic on Main Street when the two T.C.O.s asked her to move. She refused, saying “that she wants the parking spot she was waiting for,” the arrest report said. When the T.C.O.s approached the front of her car to issue her a summons for “no parking or standing,” she allegedly drove toward them. They both “instructed her to stop moving her vehicle” while putting their hands up to get her attention, according to the report, but she drove into them, striking them in the legs.

They were able to move out of her way, and she parked, police said.

According to the report, after parking, the woman walked up to one of the young officers and said, “ ‘Do you know where the nearest garbage is?’ while waving a gum wrapper in his face. She then walked over to [the other] and grabbed his shirt collar in a forceful manner and attempted to shove the wrapper down his shirt, making him fearful and confused.”

An ambulance was called, but neither traffic control officer required transport to the hospital, though one complained of knee pain. The T.C.O.s, both under 18, had already contacted village police before being hit with the car.

The woman was arrested shortly afterward. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree. She is due in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 6.
