Defied a Restraining Order

Wed, 12/24/2025 - 11:12

An East Hampton man was charged with a felony last week, accused of violating an active order of protection.

Town police say Ricardo A. Salmeron, 40, shoved another man from behind on the evening of Dec. 14, despite a court order issued in February prohibiting contact between them. He was charged three days later with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, for destroying a doorknob in the other man’s  house, and second-degree harassment for the alleged shove.

Mr. Salmeron was arraigned last Thursday morning before East Hampton Town Justice Steven Tekulsky, who had issued the original protective order. He was released on his own recognizance with instructions to return to court on Jan. 14.
