Among arrests in town last week was one in Montauk involving an East Hampton Town traffic control officer, Joseph Chacho.

The young officer was writing out a parking ticket for John Hennings, 32, of Montauk on Friday evening when Mr. Hennings allegedly tossed a plastic tennis-ball-throwing device at him, hitting him in the right shin. Mr. Hennings was cited for harassment, a violation, and charged with obstructing governmental administration in the second degree, a misdemeanor.

Toby Logue of Montauk was looking at the same charges, harassment with bodily contact and obstructing governmental administration, after allegedly punching Jaeden Sai Jenkins in the face at Mr. Logue's house early on the morning of Aug. 16. When police arrived, they said Mr. Logue tried to run away.

Juan Diego Veravasquez, 27, was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and third-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury, both misdemeanors, following an incident that took place near midnight on Aug. 16. According to the police report, Mr. Veravasquez reportedly beat up an unidentified woman who was lying in bed at a house on Route 114. The woman was treated for multiple injuries at Southampton Stony Brook Hospital. The man was additionally charged with acting in a manner to injure a child under 17 years old; the woman's 1-year-old baby was sleeping in the same bed.

Ronald Dean Rallis, 43, of Greenville, S.C., was pulled over on Montauk Highway near South Essex Street in Montauk on the morning of Aug. 9 for a traffic infraction, and was found to be carrying a Glock 9mm pistol in the glovebox of his 2023 Land Rover. Although the pistol is registered in South Carolina, Mr. Rallis was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. He will appear in East Hampton Justice Court at a future date.
