Two Drivers Were Charged

Wed, 11/02/2022 - 18:50

Two young men were charged last weekend with driving while intoxicated on local roads.

Luis Augilar of East Hampton, 24, was pulled over on Old Stone Highway in Amagansett just after 2 a.m. Sunday; police said they saw him driving a 2016 Dodge Ram in the wrong lane. Mr. Aguilar was charged with first-offense D.W.I. and aggravated D.W.I., both misdemeanors.

On Friday at around 8:30 p.m., Stalin Huerta-Farez, 22, was reported tailgating and incessantly honking at another vehicle on Gardiner Avenue in Springs, near Three Mile Harbor-Hog Creek Road. Police caught up with his 2008 Toyota Yaris and pulled it over, reportedly for failing to yield while making a right-hand turn. Mr. Huerta-Farez failed field sobriety tests, they said, and was charged with the same two drunken-driving misdemeanors.

Drivers, Cyclist Were Hurt

Four people were assessed by responders from the Montauk Fire Department, but declined further treatment, after they were struck by a woman trying to park her Honda sedan near the Montauk Brewing Company. Also in Montauk, a Volvo S.U.V. struck an e-bike on Main Street, resulting in injuries to the 13-year-old bicyclist.
