Three Were Hurt on Roads

Wed, 06/30/2021 - 17:23

Two passengers and a driver were injured recently in separate accidents on local roads.

At the intersection of Stephen Hand's Path and Cedar Street in East Hampton on the morning of June 21, a 17-year-old girl who was a passenger in a 2017 Toyota complained of neck pain after the driver, S. Cabreraperez, 34, of East Hampton, failed to yield to a Ford pickup truck driven by Dylan Avidor, 26, of Shoreham. The pickup struck the passenger side of the Toyota, which left the road and hit a stop sign. Sag Harbor volunteer ambulance personnel took the injured passenger to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Balcuns Service Center towed the damaged Toyota.

About 10 minutes later in a different part of town, Brianna Stevens of East Hampton, 21, was pulling out of the business complex at 460 Pantigo Road in her 2021 Honda. Police said a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the eastbound lane was blocking her view, but that she believed she could proceed. According to an accident report, she collided with a 2017 Dodge pickup driven by Matthew Seridge, 29, of Massapequa, who told police he had seen Ms. Stevens looking toward westbound traffic before the collision. She was taken to the hospital by East Hampton ambulance and treated for minor bleeding to her elbow. Fireplace Auto Collision towed her car. Police issued a parking summons to the driver of the car that had been obstructing the view of the road.

At around 4 p.m. on Friday, Eileen Leonard, 73, was reported to have sustained neck injuries while sitting in the passenger seat of a 2003 Lexus. The driver, Vaughn Leonard, 75, of Jupiter, Fla., had stopped for traffic on Montauk Highway near Sayre's Path in Wainscott. Rachelle Rapp, 74, of North Hills, N.Y., told police she was "not paying attention," when her 2017 BMW rear-ended the Leonards' car. A Bridgehampton ambulance took Ms. Leonard to the hospital.
