East Hampton

A woman reported $750 in damage to the taillight of her Honda Accord on Jan. 7. She told police it may have happened overnight, while the car was in her driveway on Copeces Lane.

A landlord and his tenant had a physical altercation on Hand's Creek Road last week. The tenant asked an officer to tell his landlord to keep away from him, but said he did not want to pursue charges.

East Hampton Village

Two calls about seals came in on the morning of Jan. 13. The first caller asked that police check on a seal that appeared to be stranded on a jetty at Main Beach. The second caller directed police to Georgica Beach. Neither seal could be found.

An 18-karat-gold watch belonging to a Montauk woman was reported stolen after she dined at East Hampton Grill last Thursday evening. The 70-year-old owner said she had worn it that night but it was not on her wrist when she returned home. It is insured, the report stated.

An argument ensued at Starbucks on Friday morning after an employee asked a man to put on his mask. The man told police that "he had it on, but it keeps falling down." The report also noted that "he was leaving to catch the bus."

A caller told police Saturday afternoon that "the power box in the parking lot" behind John Papas Cafe had blown up. PSEG employees who were working nearby on Newtown Lane were advised of the situation.

Montauk

Black ice on Montauk Highway near Beech Street caused a car to slide into a tree on the morning of Jan. 12 and left its driver, Amanda Dauman of Coram, with a sore knee.

Sag Harbor

A woman told police on Jan. 11 that her daughter was possibly being stalked. There had been two incidents, she said: the first two weeks before, when an unknown man appeared to be following the young woman from her work on Main Street to her Rector Street residence. On the second occasion, the same man allegedly "yelled something political" to the daughter as she came out of a Main Street restaurant.

A call came in on Jan. 13 about a snake attacking a swan on Main Street. It turned out, however, that "the swan's leg had been mistaken for a snake." All appeared normal.

A group of young women who reportedly spent hours on the patio outside BuddhaBerry on Friday listening to loud music was finally asked to leave, and complied.

An unidentified item was reported on Friday night to be hanging from a power line at 66 Main Street. PSEG, citing inclement weather, said they would respond within the next few days.

Gunshots were reported Sunday morning near a house on Archibald Way, but police said the hunters were on legal ground off the Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, where weekend shoots are permitted. Depending on the humidity, police said, the blasts may sound closer than they are.

Two drivers were arrested in Sag Harbor last week on charges of unlicensed operation. One, Velasquez Valey of Riverhead, was also charged with speeding; the other, Simon Worrall of Hampton Bays, was also charged with running a stop sign. Both will be arraigned on Feb. 5 in Sag Harbor Justice Court.

Matthew Kopoulos of East Hampton was charged with driving with a suspended registration. He will appear tomorrow in the Sag Harbor court, before Justice Lisa R. Rana.
