Deer Rutting Season Continues, and Collisions Do Too

Wed, 11/25/2020 - 09:45

No one was injured on the roads this week, but deer were very much crossing as rutting season continues.

Montauk Highway was a hot spot, near Whalers Lane on Napeague at 5 p.m. on Nov. 16 and Napeague Harbor Road an hour later. The next day, there was a deer-car collision near Cemetery Road in Montauk at 6 p.m. and on Nov. 18 at 8 a.m. near Old Montauk Highway in Amagansett. Dolphin Drive and Caswell Drive, also on Napeague, were the sites of two more Montauk Highway adjacent accidents, on Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 10 p.m.

Also on Friday at 6 p.m., Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton, at the intersection of Harbor View Drive, and Bull Path near Jason's Lane saw crashes.
