A celebration of the life of Henry Lester will be held on Sept. 20 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Amagansett. Mr. Lester died on Oct. 14, 2025, at the age of 77. A resident of Springs for many years, he had lived in Sebastian, Fla., for about 10 years.
Harold (Herb) Herbert opened Herb’s Market in 1963. It was a grocery store, deli, and butcher shop, and became an unofficial social center of Montauk — a place where both locals and visitors could gather, catch up with one another, share stories, and always feel welcome.
