Frances Ziemniak

Thu, 07/09/2026 - 14:08

Paid Notice: Frances Ziemniak passed away on June 10, 2026, from complications associated with Lewy body dementia. She was 75 years old.

Fran was a woman of remarkable independence, determination, and quiet strength. At a time when few women pursued careers in corporate management, Frances built an exceptional career through talent, intelligence, and perseverance. She earned her credentials as a Certified Public Accountant when the profession was overwhelmingly dominated by men. She held senior positions in various clothing retail organizations such as Federate Department Stores, which included Macy, Bloomingdales and Sterns and later serving as, Vice President of Finance for the Gap Inc. and subsequently as Chief Financial Officer of Court Furniture Rental, Inc.

For many years, Fran made her home in East Hampton, where she embraced the tranquility of the East End. She found great joy in her community and was deeply committed to giving back. As Treasurer of the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center, she devoted many years of dedicated volunteer service, working alongside her friends and neighbors to help strengthen an organization that has made a lasting difference in the lives of countless local families.

Fran will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for her integrity, generosity, intelligence, and steadfast loyalty to her friends and community.

Fran is survived by her close friend, Kenneth Quay; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Marie Ziemniak; and their two children, Nolan and Jocelyn.

A memorial service for Fran will be held in East Hampton, with details to follow. Frances was formerly married to Jim Thompson.
