East Hampton's girls cross-country team took a 3-0 record into the season-ending meet with Amityville on Tuesday. The girls volleyball team is playing well, but a win is proving elusive.

East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen introduced a new scaled-back proposal to charge for parking in the Reutershan and Schenck parking lots at a village board meeting last Thursday, and the board discussed plans to provide free Wi-Fi in the commercial district, to allow Tesla, the electric car company, to install charging stations in the small municipal parking lot on Osborne Lane, and to lift bans on drinking alcohol and smoking on village beaches.

Concerned Citizens of Montauk have started a petition to urge the Army Corps of Engineers to replenish the downtown Montauk beaches this year, rather than postponing the long-planned project until 2023.

Headed east on Montauk Highway in Amagansett last Thursday, 18-year-old Melissa Fallo of Hampton Bays "turned her attention" to the gas station near Oak Lane, according to a police report, and rear-ended a 2019 Mercedes van that had stopped to turn left into the lane. The driver of the van, 19-year-old Kevin Verdugo-Parraâ was taken to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital by Springs ambulance to be treated for neck pain.
