Should Not Rush

Spring

April 15, 2019

Dear David,

Thank you for your editorial on why the East Hampton Town Trustees should not rush the adoption of the currently proposed 35-year leases.

It is true that the current lease terms need revision. And, there are residents who have lived at Lazy Point for many years who need to be protected with low-priced leases for as long as they wish to stay.

Truly Special

Montauk

April 3, 2019

Dear Editor:

I speak for myself, George, my brother, Michael, my sister, Linda, and our entire family when I say thank you, Montauk! We are overwhelmed by the love and generosity that this great community has shown us. Starting with Sam Joyce and Jenni Balcuns for opening up on their day off to feed us at Sammy’s.

A Squeaky Wheel

Springs

March 27 2019

Dear David:

It has been an honor to serve our community as president of the Springs Historical Society and Library. The organization is an important part of the community.

My election came at a very crucial time considering that the leadership had previously not changed in decades.

Hauntings|

Westford, Mass.

March 22, 2019

Dear Mr. Rattray:

I read with great interest the March 21 article about hauntings at, among others, the East Hampton Library. When my mother worked there in the 1960s, she was greeted one night with a most awful sight that made her naturally curly hair stand on end. She never tired of talking about it.

It was a teenager voluntarily reading “Silas Marner.”

The Last Duck

Springs

February 2, 2019

Dear Mr. Rattray,

The early morning reports from the Accabonac have quieted so I believe this year’s duck hunting is over. Saturdays and occasionally more often, I’d be awakened by the noise. I must admit I kind of enjoy the sound, usually beginning at dawn with the crack of six shots.

It was always six shots so I’m guessing it’s the same two guys, emptying their guns on something.

Rose Tekulsky

East Hampton

January 7, 2019

To the Editor,

Rose Tekulsky was a member of the Accabonac Chapter of AARP. She enjoyed going on the many trips we made. She was very talented in making knitted items, photo albums, handbags, etc. We raffled off many of the articles at our special events.

Her son, Steven, was always there for her.

Five-Star Experience

Sag Harbor

December 26, 2018

Dear David,

Last night, Christmas Eve, I had the pleasure of joining my youngest and newly engaged son with his fiancée and two of my very dear friends for dinner. We met at 5:15, as planned, at Phoenix Chinese restaurant in Wainscott. Funny, how Chinese food and Christmas have almost become a tradition within Jewish communities, regardless of where they are located!

My son and his “to be” arrived a bit early. Nothing was on the table — no plates, silverware, chopsticks, glassware, etc.

Community Dinner

East Hampton

October 1, 2018

Dear David,

My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Prudence Carabine and all the volunteers in hosting the community dinner this past Sunday on the grounds of the East Hampton Historical Farm Museum. It was a glorious fall day to reminiscence and honor a few of our late community members, each of whom made their own unique contributions to this historical step back in time of our Bonac ancestors.
