Trustees’ Interactions

Springs

November 9, 2015

Dear David,

The result of the town trustees election shows that the people of East Hampton are concerned with the state of our environment and I applaud them. The Democratic ticket ran on a platform to improve the trustees’ interactions with state, county, and local agencies, with the common goal of healing our fragile waterfronts. We believe this is paramount for success.

The Democratic candidates chosen by the voters have been meeting weekly since midsummer. We have developed an excellent working relationship, and you can expect us to hit the ground running. Trustee meetings will be open and civil. We understand that we serve the general public.

I want to thank the East Hampton Democratic Committee, the Independence Party Committee, as well as the Working Families Party for supporting me and other candidates on the Democratic line. I’m also appreciative of the endorsement I received from The East Hampton Star, the only local publication that truly understands the purpose of the town trustees.

Most important, thank you to everyone who exercised his or her right to vote. Your voices have been heard.

Sincerely,

FRANCIS J. BOCK

Some Bad Choices

Amagansett

November 13, 2015

Dear David,

Don’t you just shudder at some bad choices?

The helicopter company investors who tried to buy a new East Hampton Town Board ($2,000 spent for each vote). The stop-the-rent-registry people who have funded the marketing of scare tactics (bed checks! huge fines! unconstitutional!). They deny overcrowding, pollution, and tax evasion.

The Army Corps mercenaries who conned compliant politicians on a Montauk Beach Band-Aid. The political activists who lobbied successfully to knock off qualified trustee candidates who wouldn’t cave to their agenda.

They may all be basically perfectly lovely people, but . . .

All good things,

DIANA WALKER

Crying Over Donations

Springs

November 13, 2015

Dear David,

Headlines such as New Jersey company bought the win for the G.O.P. Numerous letters written to the editor how the Republicans took such large donations from a helicopter company that “bought the election,” now the Republicans “owe them.”

Surprise: The election wasn’t bought, but there’s a good chance bipartisanism is also gone. A quote from another newspaper: “as shouts of ‘we showed them’ and ‘Black Hawk down’ rang through the barroom of Rowdy Hall.” Celebration is a good thing after a big win, it’s healthy, but already it’s noted the Dems’ win is too big, they can’t think of being bipartisan.

This goes for all, include the Republicans in this statement: Let’s see if this town can work together.

It’s amazing that the crying over donations comes from the liberals. You always hear or read about the Koch brothers (who, incidentally, donated millions to build children’s hospitals, etc.), but you never hear the name George Soros   come out of their mouths. George is behind everything with his big bucks, that is bad. This socialist spends millions behind the scenes.

The truth is, always agree with the liberals, they are always right, anyone else is wrong.

In God and country,

BEA DERRICO
