The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will host a hike at a relaxed pace on a portion of Montauk Point State Park on Saturday at 10 a.m. Hikers will meet at the east overlook on the south side of Montauk Highway just beyond Deep Hollow Ranch.

Of note, the first four-tenths of a mile is a steep downhill that is narrow and eroded in places and includes a few steep drops. As it is an out-and-back hike, participants will finish its 3.5 miles on the same trail, returning on a steep uphill. The hike is for those who are comfortable negotiating tricky areas. Its remaining portion is not difficult, according to the society, and participants will see Oyster Pond and take in the spectacular views from the overlook.

Amy Ruhle, the hike leader, can be contacted with questions at [email protected]
