Things really get rocking and rolling in East Hampton Village on Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the first in a summer-long series of free outdoor concerts at Main Beach.

This week it will be a reggae vibe, with Winston Irie kicking off the series. Next up, on July 4, it'll be Conga Cartel. The concerts take place weekly from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Parking at the beach is free starting at 5, and the earlier you get there, the closer you'll be able to park to the beach, says the East Hampton Village Foundation, which helps to sponsor the series.

The summer lineup continues with Inner Roots on July 11, LHT on July 18, and Hot Lava on July 25. In August, there's Nancy Atlas on the 1st, Hello Brooklyn on the 8th, Rubix Kube on the 15th, and Reeb on the 29th. Rum Punch Mafia will play the final concert on Tumbleweed Tuesday -- Sept. 5.

Chairs and blankets, picnic dinners, and even swimsuits are in order -- lifeguards are on duty late on Tuesdays to keep their eyes on swimmers of all ages. The Beach Hut concession is also open at the pavilion until 8.

The Ladies Village Improvement Society’s annual fair happens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and this year’s “is bigger than ever,” the society says. Not only will the carousel be back, but the Playland area for kids will be expanded. There will be face painting, a roving magician, a bubble artist, and pony rides for the little ones.

Montauk Chemists Opens, Minus Pharmacy

Frank Calvo, the longtime pharmacist at White’s Drug and Department Store, which closed on Oct. 31, has opened Montauk Chemists on Main Street and is selling over-the-counter merchandise including vitamins and self-care products. One week after an inspection of the store’s pharmacy, however, he is still awaiting New York State approval to operate it.

Slow Start at New Gosman’s

In some ways, Gosman’s Dock, one of Montauk’s few remaining family-owned and operated businesses until its October 2024 sale, closely resembles the complex of restaurants and shops long revered by locals and visitors alike. In other ways, though, it is markedly different under its new ownership.
