The acclaimed poet Yesenia Montilla will offer a free poetry workshop for teenagers on Thursday night at 5:30 at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center. Registration is by calling 631-537-0616.

After the workshop, Ms. Montilla, an Afro-Latina poet based in Harlem and a past nominee for the N.A.A.C.P. Image Award, will be the featured reader at Poetry and Jazz at the Center, which is open to the community. Dr. Gregson Pigott, a former commissioner of the Suffolk County Department of Health Services, will perform jazz music to complement the poetry. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

The center's DREAM Teens group also has a social-justice art project called Take a Seat on display. Students 11 to 17 decorated chairs to represent themes and issues that are important to them. Global warming and other environmental concerns, corporate greed, and medical inequality are just some of the topics they addressed. The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center is at 551 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike.

Really, really big.
