It's hard to believe it is already time for the Sag Harbor Fire Department Carnival at Havens Beach, but it opens Tuesday night and will run until Saturday night, Aug. 6, with fireworks on Friday, Aug. 5. Rides, carnival games, cotton candy, and other food you should eat only once a year will make for a memorable evening, or two.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and next Thursday, $40 bracelets will be available at the ticket windows for unlimited rides. The fun, or mayhem, depending on the age of your child, runs from 5 to 10 nightly.

According to the National Weather Service's projections for Sag Harbor Village, there is a 20-percent chance of thunderstorms on Tuesday; the forecasts for Wednesday and Thursday look pretty clear, but rain is again possible on Friday and Saturday.

Really, really big.
