Clear your schedule for HarborFrost in Sag Harbor on Saturday. The day of events will begin with a hike around Mashashimuet Park at 10 a.m. and conclude with a performance by the HooDoo Loungers at 8 p.m. at Bay Street Theater. Tickets for the latter are $30 and available on the theater’s website.     

A culinary stroll of the village will start at Il Capuccino at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $50 per person. A group plunge into the bay will take place at Windmill Beach at 2 p.m. (registration is at the windmill at 1). Also at 2: ice-carving demonstrations in Steinbeck Park (near the Cpl. Jordan C. Haerter Veterans Memorial Bridge) and a sailing regatta at the Breakwater Yacht Club.     

To take the chill off, there will be a hot chocolate station from 1 to 4 p.m. at the John Jermain Memorial Library and bottomless bowls of soup ($10 for adults, $5 for kids) from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Old Whalers Church. Patrick McMurray, a champion oyster shucker, will demonstrate his skills at Baron’s Cove from 1 to 6.     

For music lovers, Alfredo Merat will perform at K Pasa at 2:30, the Second Hands will be at Berry and Co. at 3:30, Ludmilla and Marcello will play bossa nova at BuddhaBerry at 4:30, and there will be live music at the Faherty store from noon to 6. Keith Leaf, a fire juggler, will be in Steinbeck Park at 2:30 and again at 3:30, and the Fiery Sensations, a troupe of fire dancers, will perform there at 5:30 p.m.     

For kids, there will be free glitter tattoos at the Wharf Shop from noon to 3 p.m., free face painting at White’s Apothecary from 1 to 4 and at Stella and Ruby from 2 to 5, and indoor activities at Dodds and Eder from 2 to 5. At 6 p.m., a laser show will light up the sky over the harbor.

New York City residents who plan to spend Memorial Day weekend on the South Fork and commuters who rely on the train to cut through the eastbound morning traffic were breathing easier as of Monday night, when a strike called by a coalition of five Long Island Rail Road unions was settled.

One Step Away From Eagle Scout, He’s Aiming High

Only 4 percent of Boy Scouts become Eagle Scouts, and Calogero Sferrazza, a junior at Pierson High School, is about to become one of them. As a scout, he has earned almost 21 merit badges, and plans to earn his final credentials with a project honoring veterans in his hometown of Sag Harbor.

250 Plantings for the 250th

The L.V.I.S., which maintains the trees, greens, ponds, and parks that characterize East Hampton Village, has announced a plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States by planting 250 trees over the next decade.
