The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island, and the North Fork will sponsor a virtual debate between the Democratic candidates to represent New York's First Congressional District on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. on SEA-TV's YouTube channel, at youtube.com/c/seatvsouthampton.
Christopher Gallant of Amity Harbor and Lukas Ventouras of Northport are the candidates vying for their party's nomination. The winner of the June 23 primary election will face Representative Nick LaLota, a Republican who is seeking a third term, in the Nov. 3 general election.
The debate is co-sponsored by the Leagues in Brookhaven, Smithtown, and Huntington Towns.
Early voting begins on June 13 and concludes on June 21. The early voting site in East Hampton Town is the Windmill Village senior citizens housing complex at 219 Accabonac Road. In Southampton Town, early voting will happen at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Westhampton Beach and the Bridgehampton Community Center at 585 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, which replaces the former site on the Stony Brook Southampton campus.
Early voting will also happen at the Shelter Island Youth Recreation Center at 1 Bateman Road and the Southold Town Recreation Center at 970 Peconic Lane in Peconic.
For those unable to vote in person on early voting days or on June 23, absentee ballot applications in English and other languages are available on the New York State Board of Elections website, elections.ny.gov.
