During her report on accomplishments and goals for the Human Resources Department at Tuesday’s town board meeting, Rebecca Hansen, the town administrator, announced that Emily Fisher had been appointed the new head of the department, as personnel assistant.

Reading from the department’s mission statement, Ms. Hansen said, “The goal of the department is to create an environment in which employees’ growth and experience contribute to the success of town operations and provide excellent service to its citizens.”

Since November, Ms. Fisher has served as department head in a temporary appointment. Starting in 2009 she worked as a part-time traffic control officer and moved into positions in the Building Department before joining Justice Court as an account clerk in 2017. She has also worked in purchasing and payroll for the town.

“I have had the privilege of working in several departments over the years, and each experience has given me a deeper appreciation for the people who keep this organization running,” she said in a press release. The same release noted that her family has “a long history of service to the town. Emily’s husband, C.J. Fisher, has worked for the town since 2007, her sister Amanda Bennett since 2008, and her mother, Betsy Bono, joined the town work force in 2023.”

“This is a wonderful and well-earned moment for Emily,” Supervisor Kathee Burke-Gonzalez said in the release. “She has grown with this town, served in so many different roles, and built the kind of knowledge and perspective that cannot be taught overnight. Just as importantly, she cares deeply about this work force, and I am so pleased to see her officially lead our Human Resources Department.”
