The latest round in the struggle between offshore wind farm developers and the Trump administration went to the developers, as a federal judge ruled on Monday that construction of Revolution Wind, which is around 87 percent complete, can resume.
Judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia granted the developers’ request for a preliminary injunction. “The project will resume construction work as soon as possible,” according to a statement issued by Orsted.
When operational, Revolution Wind, a joint venture between Skyborn Renewables and Orsted, the Danish energy company that developed and operates the South Fork Wind farm, is to send electricity sufficient to power 350,000 residences in Connecticut and Rhode Island. Construction of Revolution Wind and four other offshore wind farms had been paused by a Dec. 22 suspension order from the federal Interior Department.
