The International Union of Operating

During an online town hall on Tuesday, Rep. Lee Zeldin heard from Cliff Clark of the South Ferry Company about Covid-19's impact on local businesses.

Engineers Local Union 15, 15A, 15B, 15C, 15D, 15G, and 15H have endorsed Representative Lee Zeldin’s bid for re-election in New York’s First Congressional District. The chapters collectively represent 5,000 members.

“Congressman Zeldin remains a consistent supporter of organized labor and possesses a proven ability to bring jobs home to Long Island,” Thomas A. Callahan, president and business manager for the Local, said in a statement issued by Mr. Zeldin’s campaign.

“During these tumultuous times, Congressman Zeldin secured more than a million items of vital [personal protective equipment] for our essential workers in addition to critical stimulus aid for our struggling small businesses and working families.”

The endorsement is Mr. Zeldin’s eighth union endorsement in the 2020 election cycle. The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 138, the Road and Heavy Construction Laborers Local Union No. 1298, the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots, the SMART Transportation division of the Long Island Rail Road, Plumbers Local 200, the Police Benevolent Association of New York State, and the North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters have also endorsed his campaign.
