Where to Ring in the New Year

A New Year’s Eve out on the town is a cause for celebration, and there are many options to choose from on the South Fork.

Whether you prefer to celebrate New Year’s Eve by dancing or indulging in a gourmet meal, local venues are offering plenty of festive ways to ring in 2020. Reservations are recommended in all cases.

Gurney’s Resort in Montauk will hold a Roaring ’20s-themed party from 8 to 1 with live jazz, a D.J., specialty cocktails, and a photo booth. Attire inspired by “The Great Gatsby” is suggested. Hors d’oeuvres (including a raw bar) will be served, and an open bar will begin at 9. Party favors will be handed out and champagne served at 11:30. The cost is $150, plus a service charge and sales tax. Tickets are available on the resort’s website.

At Scarpetta Beach, the restaurant at Gurney’s, there will be a $105 four-course prix fixe dinner from 5 to 7, and a $155 five-course prix fixe dinner from 8 to 10. The menu features dishes such as black tagliolini with lobster, and black cod with caramelized fennel and tomato.

At the Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, G.E. Smith will play at 8, and a dance party featuring the band Booga Sugar will begin at 10. Tickets are $40 for the concert, $30 for the party, and are available on the venue’s website. 

The 1770 House in East Hampton will offer a four-course prix fixe dinner featuring entrees such as lobster chowder with black truffle brandy, yogurt-rubbed rack of lamb, and veal filet with Mangalista ham. The cost is $110 per person, plus beverages, tax, and gratuity.

Veuve Clicquot will hold a party from 9 to 1 with food, a D.J., and dancing at the Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton. The cost is $100, and includes two glasses of champagne. Tickets are available on eventbrite.com.

Bel Mare Ristorante at Maidstone Park in Springs will offer a four-course prix fixe dinner. The entrees include spaghetti carbonara, sirloin of beef, and fluke Francese. The cost is $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

At Baron’s Cove in Sag Harbor, there will be two seatings for a four-course prix fixe dinner featuring entrees such as a 10-ounce lobster tail with shaved root salad, tangerine, and vanilla beurre blanc, and a New York strip steak with broccolini, fingerling potatoes, and red wine jus. The cost is $110 per person at the seating from 5:30 to 8, and $140 per person at the seating from 9:30 to 11. In the restaurant’s lounge, the Cal James All-Stars will play dance music until 1.

Almond in Bridgehampton will have a four-course prix fixe menu after 9. The entrees include smoked duck breast, a venison roast, and seared striped bass. The cost is $115 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Diners will be provided with party favors, a glass of champagne for a toast, and the opportunity to join a conga line.

Lulu Kitchen and Bar in Sag Harbor will offer a four-course prix fixe dinner starting at 8. The menu features entrees such as Mediterranean spiced rack of lamb with squash polenta, roast chestnuts, and crispy brussels sprouts; and braised short ribs and truffle ravioli with winter vegetables, beef consommé, and black truffles. The cost is $125 per person plus tax and gratuity, and includes a champagne toast. A family-style four-course dinner will be offered for $85 per person in the restaurant’s lounge. That menu includes items such as pizza, and an entree of lamb chops and tiger prawns with ratatouille and French fries. A D.J. will play music starting at 9.

At Coche Comedor in Amagansett, the regular dinner menu will be offered from 5 to 10. Afterward, a raw bar and ceviche menu will be available as well as a special $36 entree of Caldo de Mariscos, a dish of lobster, Dungeness crab, shrimp, and shellfish in a lobster chile broth, which is served with tostadas. There will be a margarita toast at midnight.

Nick and Toni’s in East Hampton will have a four-course prix fixe dinner with wine pairings beginning at 8. The entrees include short rib and prawns with roast tomatoes, capers, and cornichon; roast halibut with heirloom carrot puree and roasted mushrooms, and Cornish game hen with braised borlotti beans, cauliflower, and smoked bacon. The cost is $125 per person, plus tax, gratuity, and beverages. There will be hats, noisemakers, balloons, a champagne toast, and a parting gift from the chef.

Rowdy Hall in East Hampton will offer special menu items including a shrimp and clam cocktail appetizer for $18, and a prime rib entree for $32. 

The Maidstone in East Hampton has a three-course prix fixe dinner menu for $120 for adults, and $80 for children. The entrees include beef Wellington, blackened rack of lamb, and a two-pound lobster. A wine and champagne pairing is an additional $40.

The Clubhouse in East Hampton will hold a party from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with a D.J., go-go dancers, passed hors d’oeuvres, a taco bar, an open bar, and a champagne toast. Black attire is suggested. The cost is $110 for tickets purchased before Christmas Day and $125 thereafter. Tickets are available on the venue’s website.

Calissa in Water Mill will have a four-course prix fixe dinner for $75 followed by a 1990s-themed party. The menu features a mezze platter for the table, plus a choice of appetizer and entree. At the bar from 9 to 11, a meal of appetizers such as Greek dips and stuffed grape leaves and olives, plus a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne is $40. The party will begin at 10.

The Southampton Social Club will hold a party from 7 to 4 with food, an open bar, a D.J., and dancing. A $95 ticket, which permits entry at 9, includes passed hors d’oeuvres, an open bar, and a champagne toast. A $150 ticket includes a four-course dinner prepared by Scott Kampf, the chef at Union Cantina. Seatings will begin at 7. A $200 ticket also comes with a private table and bottle service. A bottle of premium liquor and champagne are included. Reservations are by calling the club.

Union Cantina in Southampton will offer a dinner buffet, a dessert table, an open bar, and live music from 9 to 1. The entrees include beef short rib, skillet baked salmon, and Mexican street corn pasta. The cost is $75 in advance, and $90 at the door. Tickets are available on the restaurant’s website.

The Bridgehampton Inn will offer a five-course prix fixe dinner for $95 starting at 5:30. The menu features entrees such as short rib agnolotti, lamb chops, and pan-roasted halibut. Tickets are available on the inn’s website.

The Springs Tavern will have free appetizers such as pigs in a blanket and deviled eggs at the bar, and a toast at midnight.

The Southampton Inn will have a three-course prix fixe dinner, and a party with a D.J., dancing, open bar, and a champagne toast. The cost is $125. The entrees include prime rib with horseradish sauce, glazed salmon, and porcini mushroom ravioli, and a dessert buffet will feature a chocolate fountain with fresh fruit. For those who would like to stay over, the inn is offering a room, access to the dinner and party, and brunch on New Year’s Day for $475.
