For Parents of Autistic Children

Thu, 04/16/2026 - 07:46

An experiential workshop for parents of autistic children at the East Hampton Library on Monday aims to address “why traditional parenting advice often fails under chronic stress — and how nervous system regulation transforms communication, behavior, and connection.”

The workshop’s leader, Sara Intonato, is an author, parent coach, and mother of a nonspeaking autistic teenager “who communicates through spelling,” according to the workshop description. She will cover “how stress physiology impacts behavior (for both parent and child),” while offering practical tools to “use immediately” and guidance on “how to shift from survival mode into sustainable connection.” She will explain “why parent regulation is the foundation for child progress.”

The workshop runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Registration is through the library’s website or the adult reference desk.
