First Public Forum Ahead of 2026 Bond

Wed, 09/17/2025 - 20:55
People will be asked to share their ideas for projects at East Hampton High School, the middle school, and the John M. Marshall Elementary School that could be covered by a bond the district will put on the May 2026 ballot.

Next Thursday at 6 p.m. the East Hampton School Board will hold the first in a series of forums to gather comments on projects that could be covered by a more than $60 million bond the district plans to put on the May 2026 ballot.

Debt payments on a $76.2 million renovation and expansion bond approved by voters in 2006 will soon be retired, and bonding as that debt retires will allow the district to tackle major improvements without an impact to taxes, the district superintendent, Adam Fine, and assistant superintendent for business, Sam Schneider, have explained at board meetings this summer.

Mr. Fine and Mr. Schneider will be at next Thursday’s meeting in the high school library to discuss the rationale for the bond and hear community ideas about projects that should be considered.

Additional community workshops are planned for Oct. 15 and Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. All three will be held in the high school library.
