Holiday Break Camp

A holiday break camp at the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton will offer something for kids 3 1/2 to 5 to do from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday through next Thursday. Each day there’s a different focus. On Monday it’ll be Boxing Day and upcycled crafts. Tuesday there’s a pajama party and kids will make salt scrubs, tea, and cookies. The theme on Wednesday is votive holders and light, and next Thursday kids will celebrate the New Year early. The cost is $85 a day or $65 for museum members, and there is space for just 12 kids.

On New Year’s Eve — well, actually early in the day on Friday, Dec. 31 — kids will have another chance to ring in the year with noise, confetti, and a countdown. Two ball drops are planned at the museum, one from 10 a.m. to noon, the other from 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $5 per person, and the parties are open only to members of the museum, making it a good time to get an annual membership or renew one that’s expiring.

Outside With SoFo

Next week while kids are out of school, educators from the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton will teach them about the world around them in outdoor programs Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. On Monday, they’ll find out what happens to bugs in winter. Tuesday, they explore the question of hibernation: Who sleeps through winter, who doesn’t? Wednesday brings a search for birds in Vineyard Field, and next Thursday, a nature treasure hunt. Each hourlong program costs $15. Members can join in for free, but advance reservations are required for all.

Art Camp

At the Golden Eagle art store in East Hampton, kids 6 and up will have a chance to explore different materials and develop their skills in mini camps on Tuesday, Wednesday, and next Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost, including all materials, is $95 for one day, $250 for all three. Advance registration is required. The Golden Eagle is at 144 North Main Street.

Out of the House

If a little time out of the house is in order next week, there are options for kids at the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton and the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor. For grades six and up, the Hampton Library will have a button-making session on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. At a New Year’s Eve party at the library next Thursday, kids of all ages will make party poppers. Advance sign-up is required.

John Jermain will celebrate the end of 2021 with a game day for all ages next Thursday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The offerings will include giant Jenga and Connect 4, cornhole, and lots of board games.

Teen Crafts

There will be a focus on fun for high school students at the East Hampton Library next week, with a snow globe, gingerbread house, and shell art projects in the mix.

On Monday afternoon at 3, high schoolers can make waterless snow globes. All the ingredients for gingerbread houses will be on hand on Tuesday at 3. On Wednesday, the library will provide shells and the acrylic paint markers to decorate them, also at 3, and next Thursday at 4:30 it’s a Kahoot game with an animé and manga theme.

For children 7 to 10 there are two projects next week: paper light garlands on Wednesday at 3 and sock snowmen on Tuesday at 3. As always, the library asks participants to sign up ahead of time.
