Local school boards are still waiting to hear from Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo about when school budget votes and the election of board members can take place. In March, the governor ordered all such elections postponed until at least June 1, but no new date has been announced.

School districts begin the new fiscal year on July 1, by which time new spending plans would normally be in place. On the East End, most school boards have been holding remote meetings and budget workshops, but have not yet adopted budgets.

“We don’t really know how it’s going to happen, if it’s going to be absentee voting,” said Robert Hauser, the Bridgehampton School superintendent.“Right now, we’re just holding off.”
