Ukulele Lessons

The John Jermain Memorial Library is offering online ukulele lessons for children in second through fifth grades who are being home-schooled. The free weekly event is from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Thursday. Sign-up is required, and a registration link and additional information are online at johnjermain.org.

Peace of Mind, Peace of Planet

The Southampton Arts Center continues its Youth Global Citizens initiative tomorrow with an introduction to the Peace Project and the Wellness Foundation. At 4:30 p.m., there will be wellness activities and a lesson on composting, followed by a pizza and Ping-Pong hangout at 6 p.m. For ages 11 to 15, the program permits drop-offs. The cost is $25 and financial assistance is available for those who need it.

Printing with Project Most

Project Most is offering a series of children's art workshops in October, starting Saturday with a cyanotype printing class for children in 4-year-old prekindergarten through second grade. Cyanotype uses sunlight to create prints on fabric. The class is from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and costs $20 or $15 for Project Most members. Class sizes are limited to four students.

'Ragtime' Reading

Bay Street Theater's newest online theater education series is a five-week reading of the musical "Ragtime," on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., starting this week. The teacher is Marcia Milgrom Dodge, who was nominated for a Tony Award for directing the recent Broadway revival of "Ragtime." The cost is $100 and it is geared toward teens.

Birds of Prey

The Amagansett Library will host the Quogue Wildlife Refuge on Zoom on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. to introduce kids of all ages to birds of prey. Registration is required and can be accomplished by sending an email to [email protected].

Don't Forget a Selfie

The East Hampton Library wants teens in high school to make the best of a beautiful season with its Fall Bucket List Challenge. Here's how it works: capture memorable moments from the library's list in selfies and email them to the young adult librarians. That's it!

The bucket list includes pumpkin picking, carving a jack o'lantern, hiking, watching a scary movie, navigating a corn maze, and other fun fall activities. The email address for submissions is [email protected].

The deadline is Nov. 1. Those who complete the entire list will receive a BookHampton gift card and will be entered into a raffle to win a Fujifilm mini camera.

The East Hampton Library is also offering teens a community service opportunity on Monday: decorating the young adult room by painting pumpkins to display. Masks and social distancing will be required for the painting session, which is from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
