    If you picture the Hamptons Organic Beauty Bus as a spa on wheels, you would be almost right. Conceived and operated by Karen Clement, a former model born in Grenada, the idea for the enterprise is to deliver beauty services directly to the client’s home. The “bus,” actually a converted Ford Windstar sedan, is painted with a purple live bar code that, if scanned with a cellphone, takes potential customers directly to Ms. Clement’s Web site. The vehicle is used for delivery only, and is filled with the white cotton robes, candles, bamboo fronds, shells, and other paraphernalia Ms.

   Annette Azan-Baker, a fashion industry veteran who lives in Sag Harbor and North Carolina, has embarked on a new career, and is blazing through such uncharted territory that she hasn’t found a name yet for the service she performs. While, in essence, she guides clients through redesigning their homes and wardrobes, she doesn’t want to be called an interior decorator or personal shopper or image consultant or any of those other limiting names.

According to his research, no one has yet created a “magazine quality” visual forum in cyberspace to showcase local businesses that “maps an entire community and is hand-curated.”

Bancorp to Acquire FNBNY

    Bridge Bancorp, the parent company of Bridgehampton National Bank, will acquire FNBNY Bancorp and its subsidiary, the First National Bank of New York. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2014, subject to conditions including required regulatory approvals and approval of FNBNY’s shareholders.

   Bruce Weed didn’t start off as a computer repairman. His first calling was as a chef. Some may recall his restaurant, aptly named Bruce’s, in the Saga­ponack spot now occupied by Townline BBQ. MindBody the Best

    For the second time, MindBody, an international tech company serving the health, beauty, and fitness industries with offices at Red Horse Plaza in East Hampton, is among “The 100 Best Places to Work” as ranked by Outside magazine. The magazine’s 2013 list puts MindBody, based in San Luis Obispo, Calif., at No. 56.

   At Kara Westerman’s memoir-writing workshop at the East Hampton Library in June there was a woman working on the life story of her sister, a famous film star; a published novelist recapturing memories of her childhood as an Army brat, and a visual artist creating a “transmedia” book. A whopping 30 memoirist wannabes signed up, 22 more than the maximum allowed.
