Months after the closing of White’s Drug and Department Store, one of the last Montauk businesses to remain unchanged across several decades, EyeGallery, described as “a living cabinet of curiosities,” has opened in the 4,000-square-foot space. It will remain through September.
EyeGallery offers vintage fashion, rare furnishings, art, and collectible objects in what is described as a living room-type space. It is a family venture, that of Stephen Wallis, Sarah Brown, and their daughters Sofia and Jasmine. Mr. Wallis and Ms. Brown met in a New York City vintage shop in 2002, an encounter that led to a creative partnership and a business, MODPROP, a prop house known for its collections of furniture, vehicles, and design ephemera.
Many pieces from that collection are on view at EyeGallery, where the couple’s daughters bring their own points of view, such as Sofia’s apparel collections Farmer’s Daughter and Jaded Vintage.
EyeGallery is open to the public, but also offers private appointments for brides and those interested in the Farmer’s Daughter and Jaded Vintage collections.
EyeGallery is at 95 Carl Fisher Plaza, on the Circle in the hamlet’s downtown.
