The Bridgehampton Museum — a perfect place for an appreciation of James Salter, master stylist and, as they say, writer’s writer, as he lived in the hamlet, over by Bridge Gardens, for so many years. This will be on Friday at 5 p.m. at the Nathaniel Rogers House.

Speaking of a Friday at 5, serious Salter fans and Bridgehamptoners will remember his readings at the Hampton Library over the decades, culminating in his appearance in 2013, a couple of years before his death at age 90, with his final novel, “All That Is,” which follows a war veteran’s life in the midcentury publishing world.

This Friday, however, the presenter will be Keith Reddin, an East Hampton resident, professor, and playwright who won a 1992 Whiting Award for drama. His numerous plays include “All the Rage,” which was turned into a movie called “It’s the Rage” starring Andre Braugher and Joan Allen, and “Big Time,” which ran on PBS’s “American Playhouse.”

There is a suggested donation of $20. Can’t make it in person? A Zoom link is on the Bridgehampton Museum’s website. Canio’s Cultural Cafe is the co-sponsor.
