The Sag Harbor American Music Festival, originally set for this weekend, has been rescheduled for next Thursday through Oct. 4, given an ominous forecast for this weekend.
“We’re working closely with our artists now and hope to bring many, if not all, of them back for the rescheduled dates,” said Kelly Dodds, the president of the festival and its co-artistic director with Kerry Farrell. “We know how much our community looks forward to this festival every year, and postponing wasn’t an easy call.”
The festival features four days of concerts throughout the village, all but one of them free.
This year’s ticketed headline concert, set for 8 p.m. tomorrow at Bay Street Theater, will proceed as planned. It features Raul Midon, a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and composer whose sound blends jazz, soul, rock, folk, and pop. The New York Times described his music as “a three-way fusion of Stevie Wonder, Bobby McFerrin, and Jose Feliciano.”
Over the course of his career Midon has collaborated with such acclaimed artists as Herbie Hancock, Bill Withers, Terence Blanchard, and Spike Lee. His albums “Bad Ass and Blind” and “If You Really Want” garnered consecutive Grammy nominations for best jazz vocal album.
Tickets are $60, $55 for students and senior citizens, and $50 for veterans, active service members, and first responders.
As of Tuesday, festival organizers were still confirming the availability of performers and venues for the new dates. Among those on tap to perform were Escola de Samba Boom, Student Body, Inda Eaton, the HooDoo Loungers, Lydia von Hof, Nora Conlon, Southern Rounds, Kevin Mac, and D. Vincent Williams, as well as Reilly Rose, Sirena-Lee Carey, Jake Lear and the Kings, Whatever Lola Wants, the Jay Shepard Band, Ava Anderson, and Real East End Brass. Rounding out the original lineup were Hannah Dasher, Gene Casey and the Lone Sharks, Ludmilla Brazil, Annie Trezza, August Gladstone, and Aqua Cherry.
They’ll play at indoor and outdoor venues all over the village, including Steinbeck Park, Marine Park, the Kidd Squid brewery, Sen restaurant, K Pasa, Amy’s Hardware, Faraway, Sag Pizza, and Tutto il Giorno.
On Oct. 3, the music will run from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
