Marcie Honerkamp's "Swimmers Resting" will be at the Springs Library.

Pools and Tins

"Pools and Tins," an exhibition of 14 "pool pieces" and 20 tin pieces by Marcie Honerkamp, will open at the Springs Community Library on Sunday with a reception from 11 to 1 and continue through May 3.

The pools are handmade swimming pools created from glass tile, marble, oven-dried clay, and resin. The tins, made from tin, oven-dried clay, and resin, are partly open containers holding sardines, anchovies, sushi, and macarons, to name a few. Both formats reflect "a painter's sensibility and a sculptor's hand," says the library.

Honerkamp's love of swimming -- she participated in synchronized swimming as a teenager -- led to her first pool piece, which was created for the East End Hospice box art auction in 2023.

Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 to noon; Friday, 10 to noon and 1 to 3; Saturday, 10 to 3, and Sunday, 1 to 3.

Louisa Chase in Chelsea

"Louisa Chase: The Eighties," an exhibition of paintings and works on paper by the artist, who died in 2016, opens Thursday at the Berry Campbell Gallery in Chelsea and will run through May 30.

Chase, who lived in East Hampton, was a leading figure in both the New Image and Neo-Expressionist movements of the early '80s, along with David Salle, Julian Schnabel, Elizabeth Murray, Judy Pfaff, and Susan Rothenberg. She was recognized, according to the gallery, for her vigorous handling of paint and her psychologically charged compositions that combined gestural abstraction with symbolic imagery, energetic marks, and expressive color.

The exhibition is Chase's most comprehensive in New York City in over 25 years.

Exhibition Tour

A tour of "Ellsworth Kelly: Eight Decades," currently on view at the Parrish Art Museum, will happen Friday at 3 p.m. It will be led by Scout Hutchinson, the museum's FLAG Art Foundation associate curator of contemporary art.

Tickets are $30; $15 for resident benefits passholders, $10 for members' guests, and free for members, students, and children. Advance registration has been recommended, as limited space will be available at the door.
