Cruising Organic Avenue

Organic Avenue has once again opened its doors, and juicers, on Job’s Lane in Southampton. Offering a “live, organic, vegan experience” — L.O.V.E. — Organic Avenue sells soups, salads, entrees, snacks, and juices geared toward those seeking to follow a vegan or raw-food lifestyle.

“We’re looking forward to the same sunny reception this year as we continue to spread the L.O.V.E.,” Denise Mari, the founder of Organic Avenue, said in a release. She has four Organic Avenue locations in New York City. All of the stores offer cleansing programs and online shopping with local and national delivery at organicavenue.com.

The store in Southampton is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. through mid-October.

Wine and Networking

The Parrish Art Museum’s Business Council will hold this year’s networking event at Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Members of the local and regional business community will have an opportunity to meet and sample wines from the North Fork and ale from the Southampton Publick House. There will be hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and music by Next Level, a steel drum band.

Tickets cost $40 for Parrish members, $50 for nonmembers. There will be Hampton Jitney transportation from the Parrish Art Museum in Southampton at 4:15 p.m., returning at 8:15. The trip costs $10 and reservations are required.

Tickets, reservations, and more information can be had by calling 283-2118, extension 49, or e-mailing membership@parrishart.org .

Made in the Shade

Eleni Preston, a longtime Sag Harbor resident, designer, and goldsmith, has opened a new store in East Hampton. Made, tucked comfortably into its spot on Race Lane, is, according to a release, “a fusion of studio, gallery, and retail, celebrating the work of artisans with a passion for what they make.”

The store will sell items both functional and beautiful, original and reclaimed, from around the world. There are household and personal items, and the store also boasts vintage finds “imbued with personality.” Exploration and experiment, said the release, means the wares will be ever changing.

This month, the store will be open Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Cursive East End

Cursive, which has two stores in New York City, has launched an outpost at Amagansett Square.

The shop, co-owned by Michael Schultz, Douglas Duncan, and a long-haired dachshund named Noodle, sells fine papers, jewelry, and “curiosities.”

According to its Web site, Cursive opened originally “in the hopes of bringing some wonder and excitement to the mostly sedate world of fine paper.”

The Amagansett shop will be open every day.

Free Ride to the Beach

Hamptons Free Ride, an electric shuttle service to Main Beach and back to several pit stops in East Hampton Village, including the long-term parking lots, is up and running as of last weekend.

The brainchild of two East Hampton High School grads — James Mirras and Alex Esposito — the eco-friendly vehicle costs nothing for riders and was planned as a way to help ease parking problems villagewide. The shuttle relies on advertising from sponsors to cover its costs.

Routes in Amagansett and Montauk are planned, as well.

The East Hampton route and schedule can be found online at hamptonsfreeride.com. To find out more about routes and schedules, visit the Web site at hamptonsfreeride.com.

Awards for Ads

The Montauk-based ad team of Lynn Blumenfeld and Jill Fleming took home fistfuls of awards recently for their company, blumenfeld + fleming, from the international Hermes Creative Awards.

Blumenfeld + fleming is an advertising, Web, and logo design firm with headquarters in Montauk. The company was founded by Ms. Blumenfeld and Ms. Fleming, two former Madison Avenue creatives, in 2002. Their clients include Suffolk County National Bank, Southampton Hospital, Gosman’s, Landscape Details, and Advantage Title.

Among the accolades the company received were two platinum awards recognizing an ad campaign for Southampton Hospital’s Breast Health Center, an Advantage Group brochure, and the logo designed for Ecological Landscape Management. Altogether the team took home an even dozen awards, including a gold for a bumper sticker designed for the Concerned Citizens of Montauk.

The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals working in traditional and emerging media. It is judged by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals — several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, and freelance professionals.

There were over 4,400 entries in the 2010 competition and roughly 15 percent were recognized. Examples of the firm’s work can be found online at blumenfeldandfleming.com.

Running and Shoe Demo

Gubbins Running Ahead in East Hampton and the I-Tri girls will hold a clinic on midfoot running today at the store, which is at 54 Park Place. Michael Blanchard, a representative of the Newton running shoes company, will give a presentation on the natural running movement. Newton’s entire product line has been designed to encourage a natural running technique of landing on the midfoot to forefoot.

I-Tri is an East Hampton program that aims to foster self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image, and healthy lifestyle choices in adolescent girls through physical fitness and nutrition.

The free event starts at 3:30 p.m. More information is available by calling the store or Theresa Roden at 902-3731.

Distinctive Dunes

Distinctive Resorts and Residences — a luxury resort, condominium, and cooperative operator on the South Fork — has started the 2011 season by expanding its portfolio with the addition of Ocean Dunes in Amagansett. Ocean Dunes has 63 apartments that are available for purchase or rent. It is on four acres on Bluff Road.

Adam Manson, the managing partner of Distinctive Resorts, acquired the Panoramic View in Montauk in 2007. The Panoramic started life in 1957 as a motel and has gone through several renovations and reincarnations over the years. In the past six months, Distinctive Resorts has closed a number of deals in excess of $3 million there. Mr. Manson has said that residential sales at the Panoramic View have far outpaced the last two years, as luxury buyers have returned to the market.

Distinctive Resorts said that over the winter, the Panoramic View had pre-booked 70 percent of its summer-season resort rooms.
