The unceremonious bulldozing of roughly four semi-wooded acres on Marsden Street was a shocking sight to Sag Harbor residents earlier this month, though plans to develop the property have loomed — and sparked controversy in the village — for decades.

A security guard at Pierson High School in Sag Harbor reported a “suspicious male” wearing a face mask and “riding a bicycle in circles” near the school gym. The young man subsequently told police he was waiting for his friends to get out of school, and said he was wearing a mask “because it’s cold outside today.”

In Montauk a New Inlet Dredge Digs In
The Dredge Oyster Bay was permanently damaged after encountering a "really big rock" in the channel, and a new dredge, the Scrod II, has been called in to relieve it. The Army Corps of Engineers’ project is still on schedule, despite the many delays since it began just over a month ago.

Days after Mayor Jerry Larsen was sent a “cease and desist” letter from state, county, and town Democratic officials who asserted that his East Hampton Town Democrats for a New Town group constituted a “misuse of the Democratic Party name,” he and the chairwoman of the town’s Democratic Committee met and agreed to “lower the temperature.”
