National Guard Band, Talks, and Birds at Montauk Lighthouse

The 42nd Infantry Division Band of the New York Army National Guard will perform at the Montauk Lighthouse on Monday at 2 p.m. The 90-minute show will feature a 28-piece band performing jazz, rock, and patriotic songs.

The Ocean Institute's series of free lectures at the Lighthouse with speakers from the Stony Brook University School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences continues today at 2 p.m. Teresa Schwemmer will discuss "Ocean Acidification: What Does It Mean for Long Island?"

Next Thursday at 2 p.m., Chris Paparo, a marine scientist, will speak about "From Plankton to Whales: Why Our Local Waters Are Worth Protecting."

Birds of prey from the Quogue Wildlife Refuge's rescue educational program will visit the Montauk Lighthouse Museum grounds on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Children will learn about the history of each bird and why it lives at the wildlife refuge. Admission is $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, and $5 for children 12 and under.
