A Celebration of Children
The East Hampton Library will hold its annual celebration of children and families on Tuesday from 4 to 5 p.m. Kids ages 4 to 6 will get a chance to do some reading (or just listen) and make a craft to take home. Refreshments will be served.
All have been invited to a teen film festival screening and awards ceremony at the library on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Making 3-D Pens
Children 6 years old and up have been invited to learn how to make 3-D pens at the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Registration has been requested.

Going Screen-Free
We know it’s hard to be free of electronics, but the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor is promoting the effort with a “screen-free family fun” workshop on Sunday afternoon from 1 to 2. Parents, teens, and children will hear from Gary Osborne, a Sag Harbor Elementary School art teacher and family coach, about strategies for enjoying Screen-Free Week, which runs from Monday to May 5. A family activity is in store, too.

Looking for Bugs
Insects and arachnids are starting to wake up from a long winter hibernation, and there is plenty of egg hatching going on. But there’s no need for children to be squeamish. Instead, take them to the South Fork Natural History Museum in Bridgehampton tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. to explore Vineyard Field behind the museum to see what kind of bugs, beetles, and bees there are and how to identify them. Children and their families should dress appropriately to protect against ticks.
SoFo is also holding an Earth Day celebration on Saturday, with many activities for the whole family. That event is written up in the Bridgehampton notes on the Villages page.
