The Montauk Point Lions Club held its annual Christmas party last Thursday at Monte’s at the Manor, where Lisa Valcich was given its Lion of the Year award. The Lions Club’s mission is to “create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world,” according to the Montauk Chamber of Commerce website. It takes “an active interest in the civic, cultural, social, and moral welfare of the community.”

Joe Dryer, the club president, said he had sponsored the first woman to be a member around three years ago, and now there are three in the organization, “each a tremendous asset,” he said. “Lisa is our secretary, and she has done an amazing job.”
