Seeking Volunteer Advocates

Thu, 07/10/2025 - 10:04

The nonprofit EAC Network is seeking volunteers for the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program in Suffolk County to work with families and children involved in abuse and neglect cases to represent children’s best interests.

The main job of CASA volunteers is to be a trusted adult to the children, and to do this they are asked to commit to monthly visits with the children. They may check in with their school for updates about their well-being and also maintain contact with their parents or guardians. Advocates provide attorneys and judges with court reports that outline details about children that might otherwise slip through the cracks.

Volunteers are not required to have a background in law, social work, or child development. Those interested in the program can email Bonnie Bryant for details at [email protected].
