Visiting hours for Derek Miller of East Hampton and Jacksonville, N.C., will be on Friday, Sept. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A graveside service will take place the following day at 10:30 a.m. at Green River Cemetery in Springs. Mr. Miller died in Jacksonville on Sept. 10; he was 41. An obituary will appear in a future issue.

Montauk’s 64th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, happening at noon on March 29, is free to all. Two popular pre-parade events are likely to sell out, however, so those interested have been advised to secure tickets.

Stranded in Spain With an Ugly Diagnosis

Last week, while in Madrid on vacation, Jennifer DiPretoro was suffering from coughing fits. When a friend got her an appointment with a local pulmonologist, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Complicating matters are her oxygen levels, so low that she is not permitted to fly home. She is stranded in a Madrid hospital with an ugly diagnosis and no health insurance.
