John Aldred will take over for Bill Taylor as a deputy clerk of the East Hampton Town Trustees, the group decided on Monday.

The trustees maintain two deputy clerk positions. David Cataletto nominated Mr. Aldred to fill one of the spots. Other trustees then nominated the two incumbent deputies, Jim Grimes and Mr. Taylor.

Each trustee cast a vote on individual ballots. Mr. Grimes, with eight votes, was re-elected. Mr. Aldred received seven votes and Mr. Taylor, who had said he did not want to continue, one.

Separately, without a vote, Francis Bock was re-elected Clerk of the Trustees.

“I want to thank Bill Taylor for all the years he’s done this,” Mr. Grimes said after the vote. “He’s done a tremendous job, and we should not forget that.”

The trustees also went through their new year’s resolutions, going around the table to read each aloud. Christopher Carillo will continue as their attorney at an annual sum of $49,000. The trustee clerk will make $30,882 per year, while the two deputy clerks will receive $26,069. The other six trustees will make $12,340.

The East Hampton Star was again selected as the newspaper of record, and Van Dyke & Hand will be employed as the trustees’ accounting firm in 2025. The trustees will meet again on Jan. 27.
