Valentine's Day Dining Is Still Special

Mon, 02/01/2021 - 14:33
Restaurants are serving up some love this Valentine's Day with many special menus planned for dining in and taking home, such as Lulu Kitchen, which features a lobster pasta for two.

For those who refuse to let the pandemic get in the way of a little night-on-the-town romance as well as those who'd prefer to snuggle in at home, restaurants are offering a variety of Valentine's Day dinner specials and dining options.

The 1770 House in East Hampton has a three-course dinner special for dine-in or takeout for $125 per person on Feb. 14. The menu features entrees such as Australian lamb chops, prime beef filet, and roasted codfish with clams. Another option for couples celebrating at home: a ready-to-cook meal kit for two for $150. It offers an entree choice of rack of Australian lamb with a roasted garlic-Dijon mustard rub or a center-cut filet mignon with a wild mushroom sauce. Both dishes come with three sides: roasted beets and carrots with honey and cumin, creamed spinach, and winter truffle potato gratin with caramelized onions. For dessert, there is a choice of chocolate souffle cake with pineapple and caramel or warm date cake with sticky toffee sauce, each of which comes with a pint of vanilla gelato and caramel popcorn.

Add-ons include sheep's milk camembert with dried fruit jelly and a white balsamic glaze for $25, Regiis Ova caviar with creme fraiche, a blini kit, egg yolk, and chives, for $110 for one ounce, and $200 for two, one quart of oyster bisque with sherry, smoked onion, and thyme for $30, and, to really set the mood, a $75 arrangement of roses from Flowers by Beth in Amagansett. Orders for the meal kit must be placed by next Thursday for pick up on Feb. 13 between noon and 3 p.m.

Nick and Toni's in East Hampton has a special Valentine's Day takeout menu available on Feb. 13 and 14. The entrees include beet and ricotta ravioli with poppy seed brown butter and crispy sage for $32, wood oven-roasted halibut filet with beluga lentils, broccoli rabe, and fennel pollen aioli for $40, and grilled lamb loin with Moroccan-spiced Thumbelina carrots and toasted barley for $56. Cocktails to go include Meyer lemon cosmopolitans, margaritas, and shishito pepper-infused tequila, with lime, maraschino cherries, chili, and salt for $32 for 16 ounces. Orders must be placed by 1 p.m. for same-day pickup.

Union Sushi and Steak in Southampton, which offers indoor and outdoor dining, has a four-course prix-fixe dinner special for $79 per person Friday, Feb. 12, through Feb. 14. Appetizers include lobster bisque, sushi rolls, and mussels in a white wine and garlic broth with artichoke hearts, and heirloom tomatoes. A shared surf and turf entree for two includes a 20-ounce filet mignon and two lobster tails with scalloped potatoes and edamame succotash.

For couples in need of a change of scenery, Gurney's Resort in Montauk is offering guests who book a room Friday, Feb. 12, through Feb. 15, a $75 food credit, roses and champagne upon arrival, and a late checkout at 2 p.m.

Baron's Cove in Sag Harbor has a three-course prix-fixe special for $80 per person on Feb. 14. Appetizers include jumbo shrimp cocktail and seared foie gras, and among the entrees are smoked ricotta ravioli with toasted hazelnuts, brown butter, and crispy sage, a peppercorn-crusted New York strip steak in a bearnaise sauce with shiitake mushrooms (a broiled lobster tail can be added for $18), and seared tuna with charred edamame, radish slaw, and ginger aioli.
