The Amagansett School administration has decided to adjust its traditional Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrations in light of Covid-19.

There will be no Halloween parade this year, Maria Dorr, the school's principal, said during Tuesday's meeting of the school board. There will also be no field trip for apple picking at the Milk Pail orchard in Water Mill. Children can still wear costumes to school and there will be individual class parties, Ms. Dorr said.

Likewise, she said, one big, schoolwide Thanksgiving feast will not be held this year. Instead, there will be Thanksgiving-style meals in each classroom "to try to bring a little bit of tradition in." The board discussed the extra costs associated with doing so, but agreed it was a worthwhile expenditure.

In other news, picture day for Amagansett students is coming up on Wednesday.
